Well the blur that was the holidays is now over, and its time for my favorite holiday, New Year’s Eve!

New Years comes in about a half point over Halloween for me, as far as holidays go. I generally love any excuse to dress up (usually in sequins), and celebrate with my friends. NYE wins out over Halloween though because, everyone is still pumped from the holidays, but relieved that the stress is over, and we all need the release of a fun night out (or relaxing night in, depending on how you like to celebrate).

If I’m being honest, one of the reasons why I love NYE the most, is that I get to really let my inner Mackenzie shine through in what I’m wearing. As it turns out, my inner Mackenzie is made of sequins (and festival wear in the summer)! I look forward to finding the perfect dress every year, then rocking the heck out of it for the night. I haven’t had a chance to do a shoot of my New Year’s dresses on my blog at all yet, so I am really excited for this post!

This year my friends and I are going to a house party, which I personally find pretty entertaining. My friends and I are all (mostly) in our thirties, and none of us have gone to, or thrown a house party in years!

For New Year’s Eve this year, I am wearing a dress I got last year for Christmas! Its a sequin shift dress from Free People, and even though its kind of (ok, super) flashy, its still really comfy! I paired it with my moto jacket, a hat (of course), and my brand new Dr. Martens (side note:  if you have any tips on breaking in Dr. Martens, PLEASE share them!).  I love this look so much, and definitely feel very “me” in it!

What are you wearing for new years? Are you a “go out and celebrate”, or more of a “quiet night in” type of person for NYE?

  1. Cool style!
I like this style, I never thought that this style can also be matched with this hairstyle. Let me have one more choice!
I happen to have a wig that looks very similar to the picture. I have to try it right away.
The black leather is really sexy, very cool!
