Like I said in my previous post, I had the opportunity to shoot with the lovely Bailey Makaimoku! She was amazing, and totally willing to explore the beaches, and climb around on rocks and whatnot to get great shots. I would highly recommend her if you need some amazing photos while in Hawaii (specifically the Big Island). These are definitely some of my favorite photos I’ve ever had taken of me, and I am so excited to share them!

I think I also mentioned in my previous post that I ended up being able to get over myself, and just play tourist on this trip. This post is basically the opposite of that. While I definitely played tourist, I was also able to find some great spots that are slightly off the beaten path to explore!

Its probably pretty obvious by now that Hawaii is full of all things beautiful. Everywhere you turn there are gorgeous plants, beaches, and feral cats (totally a plus for me, I sought them out the whole time we were there, no joke). I had the opportunity to take a day to drive around the area with my friend’s mom who had lived there when she was a little girl. She is like a second mom to me, so it was really fun to get to hear stories about where she and her sisters used to explore.

One of the places we visited was the Halona Blowhole, and beach (where these photos are taken)! Apparently the beach has hosted some pretty iconic scenes from movies like; From Here to Eternity, and the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean, so that’s kind of fun! Either way, I definitely recommend exploring it if you’re in the area. There are all kinds of rocks to climb on, the beach itself isn’t too crowded (when I was there at least), and its pretty secluded feeling. Plus, if you’re completely mesmerized by the waves, like I am, you’ll probably love just watching them come in and hit the rocks.

One of the (admittedly silly) reasons I was so excited for this shoot, aside from the fact that it was in Hawaii, was that I finally had something epic to wear this romper maxi for! I’ve been sitting on this piece for a long time, and haven’t really had the opportunity to shoot it yet. I did wear it to Sasquatch 2017 (RIP), but never got around to taking photos of it. I know that a lot of people have this maxi romper, but its one of those pieces that just makes you feel pretty and unique. It comes in all kinds of colors (mine is in ginger), and is just so much fun to wear. I will say, if you plan on playing in or around the ocean, it does retain a lot of sand, and you will be shaking it out for months. Still though, I would highly recommend it!

All these Hawaii posts are making me miss the sun and nice weather! I enjoy fall once it starts, but I am definitely a summer girl at heart.
