Volunteer Park Conservatory

I’ve been debating what I wanted to share for my first post of 2017 for a few days now. I don’t know why I felt like it had to be something special, but it’s a new year, and I wanted to commemorate it somehow! Resolutions aren’t really my thing, although I did make one this year, I don’t really make lists of goals, and I’m not in to telling you guys what to do so no lists of “how to have a great 2017” (even though I actually love reading what people come up with for those, I just chose not to do them myself!)

After much deliberation, I’ve decided that I would just like to share my favorite photoshoot from 2016. I have met, and connected with so many amazing people since I started this blog, and this shoot in particular really represents that to me! I met up with Nellie, of Sincerely Nellie Photography, and the snarky genius behind Satire and Silk, to One; shoot some photos in a spot that both of us had been dying to visit, and Two; actually meet each other in person! We are traveling to Paris in February, along with two other amazing ladies and she and I were the only two that hadn’t met in person yet. Luckily we got along swimmingly, and I can not wait to travel with her next month!

Anyways, since we weren’t necessarily aiming for a typical outfit post, I wanted to do something a little more artsy and fun for it. I picked up this gorgeous orange dress by Free People, and we headed up to the Volunteer Park Conservatory (a greenhouse in Seattle), and went to town! I know this dress isn’t really winter fashion appropriate, but I just couldn’t resist it. It was one of those pieces that just makes you feel so pretty, and glamorous. The conservatory was perfect for it, and a beautiful place to explore too. I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I am a huge plant lover. I have a ton of plants in my apartment, and I love going to places like this, that have a bunch of happy plants that I don’t normally get to see. I mean come on, they had a whole room dedicated to cacti and succulents, I was basically in heaven.

I ended up pairing this perfect boho dress with a moto jacket to add some edge, a hat, a cute little turquoise necklace from Clementine Vintage, and my favorite Frye booties. I love how the whole outfit came together to just ooze boho western vibes, and I am definitely going to rock it a lot more when the weather gets nicer. It’s taken me a long time to come around to maxi dresses, but I’m so glad I did, because I had so much fun swishing around the greenhouse in this little number.

    1. Thank you so much! Nellie is such a talented photographer, she was doing all kinds of crazy things that I never would have thought of (like using flower petals as filters!). It was such a fun shoot to do, and I was so excited to finally be able to share it!

      Happy new year!

    1. Thank your so much! They were so much fun to shoot. I had been wanting to visit the conservatory for so long, I’m so glad that I finally got to go! I super geeked out over all the plants, haha!

  1. Oh my God, these photos are absolutely captivating! The lighting, the composition, everything is so dreamy, and you’re a born model! Your outfit is breathtaking, too–I love that dress, especially with your jacket! Happy New Year!

    1. Thank you so much! I’m so glad people seem to love them as much as we do! It was such a beautiful place to shoot, the lighting was perfect, and luckily, since it was a greenhouse it was nice and toasty!
