Lets talk classic pieces for a minute.

If you’re like me, then you probably try to make sure that you have a few classics in your wardrobe at all times. Things like a pair of black skinny jeans that fit like a glove, a good LBD, or the perfect leather jacket. One of the classics that I have had a particularly hard time finding, is a good denim jacket. I’ve owned around three, and I think I could count the number of times I’ve worn any of them over the last ten years on one hand (seriously). A little background on me, I was a swimmer from ages 5-19. Due to this I have what I like to refer to as “sports shoulders”. My broad sports shoulders don’t really get along with cute little denim jackets. If they fit my shoulders, then they tend to be too big everywhere else, if they fit everywhere else, my shoulders feel kind of like Chris Farley wearing David Spade’s Jacket in Tommy Boy. It has seemed there was just no winning for me. So I’ve spent the years with the same denim jacket in my closet, gathering dust, never getting its time to shine.

Well, no more! I recently picked up the Savannah Jacket by local Seattle brand, Jag Jeans, and I think my long years of searching for the perfect denim jacket may finally have come to a triumphant end! This jacket, like their denim, is incredibly soft and stretchy. As with all of their clothes that I’ve tried, I feel more like I am wearing a sweatshirt, than something made of denim. I ordered up a size and got a large, I’ve been hurt before and wanted to make sure my sports shoulders would be well accommodated. I feel like I probably could have gone with a medium, even though I actually love the fit of the large too. Gone are the days of trying to stuff myself in to a stiff denim jacket, the Savannah Jacket feels like it has been broken in for years, and has enough stretch to make it easy to fit, and move in. I don’t know how they do it, but Jag has figured out just the right amount of sorcery and manages to produce some of the comfiest denim clothing I have ever tried.

I paired my new love with the Roan Shirt, also by Jag. They came together to make the cutest little outfit for a cloudy Fall day! I love the colors in the Roan Shirt, it’s all peaches, maroons, and navy blues. A perfect combination with denim. This shirt is made of rayon, which I actually love because it is super comfortable, and I really like the way rayon falls. I popped my favorite Carmen Sandiego hat on my head, and felt like a million bucks walking out the door!

In this look: my denim jacket is the Savannah Jacket by Jag Jeans, top is the Roan Shirt also by Jag Jeans, black skinny jeans are Gap, hat is Garage Clothing, boots are The Frye Company, and my necklace is from etsy seller Glasspalacearts.

  1. Oh man, that jacket looks like it was made for you! Glad to hear it’s nice and comfy, too! Also, I very, very much like that top–the print is just right for fall.

Sadly, I’m still on the hunt for a denim jacket I really like! I sort of have the opposite problem–since I’m short, I look like I’m swimming in denim. Maybe one day I’ll get a dream jacket like you!
