Fun fact, I turn in to a little kid when I’m near the ocean. I love it, I love standing in the waves, and running away from them when they are higher than I expected. I love the sounds, the animals, and the feel of sand between my toes. This trip was so full of playing in the ocean, and I was in heaven for every second of it!

The second day of our trip was mostly spent in the car, we had to make it from Palm Springs to San Luis Obispo, and it turned out to be quite the trek. We ended up meeting up with some family friends of mine, and staying at their place for the night. They took us out to two local breweries, which was great! I don’t know if anyone has picked up on it yet, but Nick and I are huge beer fans. Our honeymoon was originally going to be a road trip from Washington, down to Santa Rosa California. We planned to basically go from brewery to brewery until we made it to the ultimate goal of Russian River Brewing.

While we stayed with my friends, they told us about all the places we should hit up on our drive up to Big Sur the next day. We tried to stop off at all the places that were on the way, and I am so happy we did!

Our first stop was the beach at Morro Rock. We were a little skeptical, how could a giant rock be so awesome? It was though, it was huge, and the beach was so beautiful! It was our first taste of the California coast, and we loved playing in the waves and taking in the views. After reluctantly leaving our first taste of the ocean, we headed a little ways up the coast en route to Hearst Castle. We kept noticing people stopped on the side of the road, facing away from the ocean. We decided to stop in a spot where another car was pulled off on the side of the road to see what was so special on that side, as it turned out, there were Zebras just hanging out! They were mixed in with the cows, just grazing in the field! When we got to Hearst Castle we learned they were from the zoo that used to be there, and they can be spotted all over the area.

The last stop we made on the way up to Big Sur, was to this particular beach that the seals love. There were hundreds of them, and they were so funny! We got some great photos, and watched for a while, and continued on our way.
